Setup

Creating a Fastmail API token

This is the whole setup. It takes about a minute and you only do it once.

In Fastmail

  1. Open app.fastmail.com/settings/security/tokens, under Settings then Privacy & Security.
  2. Create a new API token and name it something you will recognise later.
  3. Give it the Masked Email scope and nothing else.
  4. Copy the token. Fastmail shows it once.

In the app

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Paste the token into the Fastmail API Token field and save.

The app checks it against Fastmail straight away. If it reports the Masked Email scope as missing, the token was made without it: scopes cannot be added later, so create a new one.

Revoking it

Delete the token on that same Fastmail page. The app stops working at once and there is nothing to clean up on the device. Worth doing when you sell a phone or stop using the app.
