Fastmail Masked Email not receiving mail
An address that isn't forwarding mail is almost always in a state that explains why, not actually broken. Here's where to check.
Check the address's status first
Every Masked Email address is Active, Blocked, or Deleted, and only one of those receives mail normally. Go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Masked Email, and find the address in the list to see which it is.
- Active mail arrives in your inbox as usual.
- Blocked mail still arrives, but goes straight to Trash instead of your inbox.
- Deleted mail bounces back to whoever sent it; nothing reaches you at all.
If it's set to Blocked and you want mail flowing again, the block guide covers switching it back to Active from either Fastmail or Masked Email Manager.
Search for the mail directly
Fastmail can show you everything ever sent to one address. From the same Masked
Email settings screen, click the address, then Search Mail. By
default that search skips Trash and spam, so if a blocked address sent mail
there, add the in:* search operator to include every folder.
Hit a limit generating new ones?
This is a different problem from existing mail not arriving: Fastmail caps how many new Masked Email addresses can be created in a given stretch of time, to keep the feature from being abused. If creating one fails outright rather than an existing address going quiet, wait 24 hours and try again, or reach Fastmail support if it keeps happening.
Address doing what you expect now, just want to turn it off instead? The block guide covers blocking versus deleting.
